Meet Your Tutor
Angel Morton-Nilsson
Angel — known to her students as Ms. Angel — has spent over 15 years helping adolescents build both academic skill and genuine confidence, from public-school classrooms to AP courses to one-on-one tutoring. Her mission is personal: she believes every student is capable of far more than they realize, and that the right teacher, activity, and environment can turn even a subject a student has "given up on" into one they enjoy.
That belief is why she left the traditional classroom to build a tutoring practice centered on individualized learning plans, real progress tracking, and — just as importantly — helping kids rediscover their own confidence and self-efficacy.

Teaching Philosophy
Relationship and confidence, before rigor.
- Every student has fun learning with the right activity, the right teacher, and the right environment — even in subjects they've previously found demotivating.
- Every student yearns for positive affirmation, attention, and reward. Approached with curiosity, compassion, and firm boundaries, students can be guided toward earning that affirmation through positive action rather than misguided behavior.
- There's a fine line between a student being unwilling and unable. Because of neurological and developmental differences, every student's scaffolding needs are individually assessed — even among students of the same age.
- With a strong student-teacher relationship, deliberate confidence-building, and a learning plan tailored to a student's strengths, weaknesses, and personality, every student can enjoy learning and see measurable academic success.
Our Value Proposition
We have a unique commitment to building student confidence using specific behavioral-science techniques to help students improve cognitive connections and overcome challenges. Helping students experience the "wins" in a big way — and begin to believe in their own potential — is our biggest emphasis, and where we stand out.
A detailed, curated learning plan for each student, with ongoing progress tracking for parents, helps everyone on a student's learning team make informed decisions that lead to real, measurable results. Parent involvement is treated as essential to student success, with clear communication and guidance for supporting the student at home.
